Dear SorryWatch: That’s not an apology, that’s my spouse

Sometime things are said in the heat of argument that one regrets later. Sometimes those things even have the word “sorry” in them….

Dear Sorrywatch:

And I quote… ‘I guess I should say sorry to shut you up… and stop the diarrhea spilling from your mouth.’ My husband said this to me this morning because I was mad that he blurted something out to my son that I said to him (my husband) in private. Who does that?

No apology at all!

Dear No apology at all!:

You’re right, that isn’t an apology. It’s the reverse. We’re very sorry you got that instead of the real thing.

    I would write it down verbatim, and ask him to read it at a later time. The response would tell you all you needed to know.
